Community Guidelines

Last updated: 16 June 2026

Find My Homie only works if the people on it are honest and kind. These guidelines apply to your profile, your messages, and anything you do off-platform with people you met through us. Breaking them can lead to a warning, suspension, or permanent removal.

1. Be honest

  • Use your real name and a real, recent photo of yourself.
  • Answer the quiz honestly — it's what makes the matches useful.
  • Be upfront about budget, move-in date, smoking, pets, and anything else that affects living together.
  • No catfishing, fake profiles, or pretending to be someone else.

2. Be respectful

  • Treat everyone the way you'd want a future flatmate to treat you — including people you decide not to match with.
  • No harassment, threats, intimidation, or repeated unwanted contact.
  • No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  • No unsolicited explicit content.

3. Keep it safe

  • Meet in a public place before agreeing to share a home or sending any money.
  • Never send deposits, rent, or holding fees to anyone before viewing the property and signing a proper tenancy agreement.
  • Trust your gut. If someone makes you uncomfortable, stop replying and report them.

4. No scams or commercial spam

  • Don't use Find My Homie to advertise services, list properties commercially, or recruit for anything unrelated to finding a flatmate.
  • No phishing, fake listings, or requests for upfront payments.
  • Letting agents and landlords looking to source tenants are not permitted.

5. Protect privacy

  • Don't share anyone else's personal information (address, phone number, photos) without their consent.
  • Don't screenshot conversations or profiles to share them publicly or to mock other members.
  • Don't scrape or copy the platform.

6. Stay legal

Don't use Find My Homie to do anything illegal — including but not limited to fraud, money laundering, drug dealing, or sub-letting in breach of a tenancy.

7. Reporting

If someone breaks these guidelines, report them from their profile or message thread, or email hello@findmyhomie.co.uk. We review every report. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the police on 999.

8. What happens if you break the rules

Depending on what happened, we may remove content, issue a warning, temporarily suspend your account, or permanently ban you. Serious breaches — especially anything involving safety, harassment, or fraud — usually mean an immediate permanent ban.

Thanks for helping keep Find My Homie a place people actually want to be.
