1. Who we are

Find My Homie ("we", "us", "our") is a London-based flatshare matching service. We are the data controller for personal data you provide when using our website and services. You can reach us at hello@findmyhomie.co.uk.

2. What we collect

  • Account data: name, email, password (hashed), date of birth, and profile photo.
  • Quiz responses: lifestyle, habit, and preference answers used to generate compatibility scores.
  • Profile content: bio, neighbourhood preferences, budget, move-in date, and anything else you choose to share.
  • Messages: conversations between you and other members on the platform.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device info, and cookies needed to keep you signed in and to measure basic usage.

3. How we use it

  • To match you with potentially compatible flatmates.
  • To run and secure your account.
  • To send transactional emails (welcome, matches, messages). If you opt in, we may also send newsletters and product updates — you can unsubscribe anytime.
  • To improve the product and prevent abuse.

4. Legal basis (UK GDPR)

We rely on (a) contract to provide the service you signed up for, (b) legitimate interests to keep the platform safe and improve it, and (c) consent for marketing emails and any optional cookies.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share limited data with service providers that help us run the platform (hosting, email delivery, analytics). They are bound by contracts that restrict use of your data to what we ask them to do. Other members only see what you choose to put on your profile.

6. Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, quiz answers, and messages within 30 days, except where we are legally required to keep records (e.g. for fraud prevention).

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise most rights directly from your profile, or by emailing hello@findmyhomie.co.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

8. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in, and minimal analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising.

9. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll let you know by email or in-app notice before they take effect.
